Survivor Fiji - Second Chances vs. Noobies is the fifth season of Skydog's Survivor series. The season features 10 former players competing against 9 new players fighting for the title of Sole Survivor.
Announcement/Production
Season 5: Fiji began production on May 31st, 2014, when the Season 5 Auditions video was uploaded to YouTube. 19 players: 9 noobies and 10 second chances were casted for this season.
Twists/Changes
Second Chances vs. Noobies: This season features 9 noobies competing against 10 second chances. However, the tribes were intermixed, so second chances vs. noobies wasn't actually a twist, just a title.
Haves vs. Have Nots: The losing tribe of each immunity challenge will have a disadvantage in the next immunity challenge, thus making their odds of winning suffer even more.
Exile Island: For the first time ever, Exile Island will be featured as a themed twist. The losing tribe will get to send one person from the winning tribe to Exile Island. After the merge, the winner of immunity will get to send someone to Exile, but that person will return in time for Tribal Council. At Exile Island, there is a Hidden Immunity Idol for both the Moto and Ravu camps. At merge, a Bula Bula Hidden Immunity Idol will be planted. Idols are good up until the Final 5.
Tribe Swap: On Day 16, following Carter's elimination, a tribe swap occured. The new Ravu tribe consisted of: Amber, LJ, Morgan, Pete, Erik, Troyzan, and Allie. The new Moto tribe consisted of: Woo, Jefra, Matt, Katie, Tony, Jeremiah, and Courtney.
Merge: On Day 22, following Amber's elimination, Moto and Ravu merged into one tribe, Bula Bula. The Bula Bula tribe consisted of: Jeremiah, Allie, Erik, Morgan, Courtney, Tony, Jefra, Katie, Woo, LJ, and Troyzan.
Tyler Perry Immunity Idol: After the merge, at the first immunity challenge, the castaways were offered to compete for immunity, or sit out and have a chance at a "huge advantage" in the game. Unbeknownst at the time, Woo ended up winning the advantage, which would turn out to be the Tyler Perry Hidden Immunity Idol. Unlike the regular idols, the TP idol can be played AFTER the votes are read. This would come into play at the Final 5 Tribal Council, after Woo was "voted out", he played the idol, and ultimately saved himself, and automatically eliminating LJ.
